The ferry from Rosyth to Zeebrugge is a fairly new service, introduced by Norfolkline Ferries in 2009, and offers 3 departures per week for travellers from Scotland to Belgium.

Rosyth Port is situated in Dunfermline, about 15 miles north of Edinburgh and 40 miles from Glasgow. Rosyth is easily accessible for travellers from Scotland and the north of England. Zeebrugge ferry port has excellent motorway and train links and is well placed for onward travel to elsewhere in Belgium, or Holland, France, Germany and beyond. Zeebrugge is also a popular holiday destination in itself, with beaches, cafes and many seafront hotels. But better still, Zeebrugge is just a few a few kilometres from the beautiful and historic town of Bruges.

The ferry from Rosyth to Zeebrugge route is operated by Norfolkline Ferries, on their well equipped, newly built ferry The Scottish Viking. The ferry travels overnight, and offers excellent facilities, including ensuite cabins, bars, restaurants, cafes and children's play areas. Since the route cruises overnight, you are required to book either a cabin or Pullman seats. The cabins are available in 4 berth, either on the inside or outside of the ferry. The Pullman seats are the cheaper option, but are comfortable, reclining chairs similar to those found in club class on long haul flights.

Alternative Ferry and Travel Options

There are some alternatives to the ferry from Rosyth to Zeebrugge. There are 2 other ferries from UK to Belgium, from Ramsgate to Ostend and Hull to Zeebrugge. The ferry ports in Belgium are all fairly close. Ostend is about 40km from Zeebrugge. However the alternative departure ports in the UK - Hull or Ramsgate - may not prove to be so convenient for travellers in Scotland. Ramsgate ferry port is in Kent, in the south of England, and Hull ferry port is in East Yorkshire. Hull ferry port is about 250 miles from Edinburgh.

Depending on your final destination, a ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam may be a better option. Newcastle is around 140 miles from Edinburgh. Amsterdam is about 260 km east of Zeebrugge, but well placed to get on to the main motorway network in Holland, for onward routes to Belgium to the west, or Germany to the east.
